About Joe Wilson Intermediate School

Joe Wilson Intermediate School opened in the fall of 2002 and is located off Joe Wilson Road, between Parkerville and Little Creek roads.  The campus serves fifth and sixth grade students from across the district including Plummer, Highlands, Waterford Oaks, and Lake Ridge Elementary schools.  Our enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year is approximately 610 students, with class sizes fluctuating between 22 to 29 students.

In addition to core courses, several fine arts and elective courses are offered.  Two fully equipped computer labs and a computer math lab are accessible for developing technology skills, conducting research, and practicing and assessing skills.  The science lab provides a place for students to participate in meaningful hands-on experiments.  Band, Robotics, Music, Choir, Orchestra courses allow additional opportunities for students to excel. Student academic assistance and support are available in the form of programs such as:  Resource, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Gifted and Talented.  Enrichment Blocks help students meet academic standards and enhance positive youth development.  Team JWI staff members sponsor many extracurricular programs that meet after school.
